Why do people dress up and go stand on drafty hillsides all day when they can watch the cycling on telly? SpinCycle Magazine went along to find out.

Judging by the expressions on the gallic faces seen through the car windows, by the time the Tour Caravan got to Buttertubs Pass the organisers of this year’s tour were already in deep shock. Yorkshire has had some party.

We have plenty of great stuff from the day out and James’s image of the sea of humanity has already been RT’d by Cancellara and Contador and looks like become one of the iconic images of the 2014 Tour de France.

Here’s a little taster of the madness on offer: the crowd practicing chasing riders – and a gendarme and King Tut wonder where the nearest pub is after the tour has passed by.
